I loved my time in Ghana.

I quickly learnt that I could be of use just by holding someone's hand or offering a few comforting words in Swahili

The midwife I spent most of my time with was very special; I find it difficult to put it into words.

At around 10pm the power cut and despite being told there was a lantern, it had no batteries. The baby was born by the light of the torches on our phones!

The strength and confidence I developed in myself and in my practice out there will hopefully last a lifetime.
